80 countries, 100+ cities, 2 individuals and a singular passion for travel – that pretty much sums up our love story.

I fell in love with Savi the day I saw her. It was 20 years ago and we were traveling in the school bus. I was 15 and she was 14 years old. Soon, we became good friends. As we grew older, our bond grew deeper.
After high school, I moved to Singapore for higher studies while Savi stayed back in Delhi. It is often said that distance breaks down relationships, but for us, it brought us closer. I started visiting Delhi during my semester breaks and we started travelling together. This way, not only did we explore new destinations, we also discovered our love for each other. This continued for 7 years. Through this we both got very busy but made sure that we always kept in touch. After my studies, I took up a job in Delhi to be with Savi in the same city. She taught English Literature while I was a business analyst.

Our decision to get married came when Savi was accepted for a Ph.D scholarship at Leeds University. I knew this was a lifetime opportunity for her. But I did not want to get separated from her. I proposed marriage and she immediately accepted. Both our parents were very happy. To make things simpler, I quit my job and decided to relocate to the U.K. with Savi. We were both against patriarchal, traditional and elaborate rituals. So, we had a simple court wedding.
Through all this, our love for travel continued to grow. After 10 years of corporate life, we finally bid adieu to our professional careers and started our own blog -Bruised Passports. Many people thought we had made a foolish and rash decision. But we had worked for 10 years and saved enough money before switching careers.
Our life has been an adventure since then. We have got lost in the scary Croatian jungles, thanks to a faulty GPS. We have fried crickets and tarantulas for food in Cambodia. We have watched the ethereal changing colours of the Northern Lights, sitting hand in hand in Iceland. But these are the experiences that we really cherish and they make our career decision truly worthwhile. We make new friends, explore new cuisine and culture. While our friends invest in houses and cars, we invest in experiences and emotions. 80 countries, 100+ cities, 2 individuals and a singular passion for travel – that pretty much sums up our love story.
